The brief: To transform the old staff room into a calming nurture room. The nurture space should help children develop the social and emotional skills to thrive at school. To be able to engage with peers and adults, gain resilience and a capacity to deal with the ups and downs of life, for life.
The process: Two Thirds Design were invited to Greybrookes Primary school in Shenstone to convert a run down room into a calming nurture room. Using the idea of the a beach hut and seascape scene we created a themed room.
The end result: The walls and door were wrapped with adhesive vinyl.
Evidence of success:
Greysbrooke Nurture Room Case Study By Clare Glandfield.pdf
“Teachers have seen an increased love of school, confidence, attainment and self-esteem. They have talked about pupil’s excitement and desire to work in the nurture room. In addition several parents have approached me and asked me to consider their child for some form of nurture provision. There is a real buzz of excitement around the room and I am excited about forthcoming projects which are in the pipeline.”
